The Jedi Civil War rages on, engulfing the planet Ruusan in conflict. The stalemate exhausts Jedi and Sith as hope fades. A Jedi Knight discovers a threat greater than the Sith Brotherhood. Greetings Fans of the Star Wars fan film 'FADE'. I discovered there were some technical issues with the nature of the embedding code to the page on youtube.com. I recreated the video frame in the Videos section, but now it will show statistics going back to the release date. The movie is in the Videos section or can also be found here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVAoU_4NH5o.
Also a note for the cast: I owe you DVDs and will be working on them once Pinecar Derby building is over. ;)
October 10th, 2012
Greetings all. Reminder, 17 days until the premiere of FADE. If you follow FADE & received an invite to the premiere, please go to the Star Wars 'FADE' Facebook Page and choose Going or at least Maybe. Also, the film will be available here on October 27th. Can't wait!
August 24th, 2012

If you care for a reminder, please visit out Facebook site and view the event. The online debut should start roughly around 7:30pm that night. I hope you all enjoy. I am so happy and thankful we could complete this effort for our friends & fans!
See you then! -Jesse & Dave

Hello fans, and a sincere apology for a lack of updates to this page. I have been 'nose to the grindstone' as far as completing the work on this film and showing our story. A lot of post-work has gone in over the last four months to get where we are. However, I can now say that we have 1% remaining before all the post work is completed. I anticipate the last work will be finished within the next 60 days, with a premiere in late October. As with all things, sometimes dates change but October is a pretty reasonable month to premiere. Thank you for your patience.
FYI - here is our Facebook page for those who haven't been out to see it yet.
Also, here is a finished still from the film as we near completion. Hang in there, and thank you so much for your support!

Hello fans. By the end of this weekend, 20% of the final battle scene will be done. This scene with roughly 35 live combatants is about 9 minutes long and must ne broken into 5 separate projects. Hence the 1st one is nearly done, as is 95% of the movie overall. All the others don't have quite as much sabers to draw so they will go a bit faster. I'm sorry for the lack of cool updates. This is all I have done since mid- January. We still would to like to post our final trailer & exclusive clip, plus we have one remaining cast member to spotlight. Look for more updates soon. May The Force Be With You. -Dave
January 28th, 2012
A belated Happy New Year to all. A brand new year brings, like, no time devoted to filming (boo) and all time devoted to finishing the final battle scene (yea!) Because editing this scene is so much work, its hard to spare any time to giving our fans any online content to catch up with what we are doing. So, a couple things: 1. A finished screenshot of the final battle is below. 2. We celebrate a someone that kept this project going: Chris Schmitt. He came through in a major way. Without his help, there is no film. We thank him in the new Webisode 16 - Pursuing Bane. I hope to get another update some time soon but for now its heads down & keep drawing lightsabers. Talk to you soon. -Dave
December 12th, 2011
Happy Holidays everyone. I hope everyone is having a festive holiday season. Here is an update: still working on one "2nd-to-last-scene" before we take on the final battle. Through this editing I have discovered this: Yes we can depict the consequences that come when mortal enemies continue to fight each other. They take everything down with them.
We have a new Webisode posted on our Videos page. This time we spotlight Christian Eckert. Christian was vital to establishing this story's moral center. He gives the film great depth; I was able to watch him grow within the role right before my eyes. He also helped perform the critical combat scene about halfway through the story. We really appreciate how dedicated & enthusiastic he was and how he was able to give his time during a very busy schedule. Thank you Christian!
November 14th, 2011
Hi Everyone. I wanted to reach out to you all and let you know that we are making good progress. We only have one scene to start editing and a couple others to tighten up and then we are all set to start on the end battle scene. It will soon be the last objective before we have a movie.
Also, we have a new Webisode posted on our Videos page. This time we spotlight Jaime Stanke-Schmidt. She was a jack of all trades during filming and gave a very large amount of her heart to this story. She loved everything she did during a time when it could be hard to do so. She is a very brave and strong individual and I wish I could be more like her. Thank you Jaime!

Happy Halloween (early). I proudly present to you a 2nd exclusive clip from 'FADE'! Please check out the Videos section. :)
We are moving along not at a fast pace but a steady pace. I am happy to see the great work put in by everyone involved. Hopefully our cast can look on this in their every day lives and think it was neat to be part of this. As always, future updates will be coming as we move closer to a release date. Have a happy and safe Halloween!

A new featurette is available in the Videos section of our site. This webisode features my amazing wife Robin and her time spent returning to this expanded story. She did so well and really loved the time she spent portraying her character again.
September 18th, 2011
Hi all. So this was it; the last filming weekend of our movie. I have been waiting to film some of these scenes for a long time. We were able to find a very nice looking Japanese Garden in Bloomington, MN. It was a really neat place and I intend to go back just to visit.
It was great to work with Dave Dahlberg again, our veteran Jedi. He pulls off the look well; he portrays his character with a sense of distinction and class. He also brings a sense of solidness and confidence to the character. He is a very good friend of mine and it was a pleasure to film his return after almost a year-and-a-half.
Here are a couple photos from the weekend; as usual I include one that is very close to what it will look like post-production. More video updates will be available soon as well as down the road. There is no more footage to capture; we're all done and its time to finish producing it! More to come soon! Take care. -Dave
August 29th, 2011
Hello FADE Fans. It has been a little while since we have communicated anything. That's because everyone has such a busy summer that there has been nothing to share. The movie project is starting to crank forward again, and I am very happy about that. I am a big fan of moving forward, so that's what will happen now. We have 7% filming left to go. Further, 2/3rds of the film is mostly in the 'can'. So stay tuned for updates & webisodes to keep you happy while we work towards the end goal.
Here are a couple shots from filming sessions over the last 2 weeks. One of them is post-edited enough to give the audience a sense of what it will mostly look like. Again, more updates to come soon. Take care! -Dave
June 26th, 2011
Hi All. Just a quick update. So again, we are nearly completed with filming; roughly 10% to go. However we will be delayed in gettting there. My family will be moving to a new house. With that comes all the duties that take up all a persons time. We likely will pick up the last filming sometime early September. For those who are fans of this effort, never fear! You'll see your sequel. :) -Dave

Our Videos page has been updated to include a fan-favorite, Teresa Jackson. A huge thank you to Teresa for her efforts in reprising her role from IMMOLATION! It was a real treat to produce her featurette and formally reintroduce her to the fans of this effort. Check her out on the Videos page or by clicking her quick link on the right Video thumbs bar.

Our group ended another successful weekend with a lot of dialouge, and a lot of fighting! Major thanks to those who have written the choreography and those who lent a keen eye. You saw things I could not see and gave an unexpected & much needed opinion! Without you the footage would have been llimited. An extra special thank you to my wonderful wife Robin who is now back in the spotlight! You fought awesome with a lightsaber! We shall see additional scenes from her character in upcoming filming next month.
As previously mentioned, we are winding down our efforts. I had to kind of say goodbye to a couple people that had major roles which fit them so well. It didn't hit me until we were done today. Though we will reconnect here and there as we head towards the release, its hard to realize I won't work creatively with them anymore. I'm going to miss working with you guys.
Here is a couple post-production stills for your viewing. These are pretty close to how these will look. More updates to come as we head into June. Take care! -Dave
March 27th, 2011
Back to work!!! After the trailer and after 4 months, we are back to it. We started the beginning of the end (did you get that?) the weekend of March 26th-27th. We were in the barn again, filming green screen material. Everyone had a good time but they were also very focused. We extremely lucky & thankful that many members of Jesse's family could join us and help populate the screen with fresh faces! They looked good and allowed us to do some new things because they are new to the process.
We also saw the return of Darth Bane. This past weekend, I think we saw him closest to the way he has been depicted in the comics & books. Chris looked intense. He wore the makeup well and certainly has a distinctive power fighting style; worthy of a such a powerful character. Below is a production shot as well as a post-produced shot that is very close to how it will be post-produced. Great job everyone!

Happy New Year to all! I hope this year brings great things to everyone. Check out our new Webisode in the Videos section. It contains everything you WON'T see in the film. Also check out Erich Ludwig below in this post-produced still from the film. Beautiful!
November 20th, 2010
Hi fans! Another filming session in the books! This weekend we didn't film any new scenes. We actually worked on supplementing our existing battle footage from last April. Our intent is to make a battle a bigger looking battle. We had some stunts that we did for the 1st time. It was 'interesting'. :) I hope everyone who came had a good time on our stage.
This session is the other 'bookend' to what we started a year ago to the date! To date, we have had 13 filming sessions, totaling 3 weeks of work! Many many thanks to everyone who has hung in there over the entire year. Everyone has rearranged their lives to some extent to stick with this. You all deserve to be given the coolest movie Jesse and I can make, and we are determined to do just that! As usual, here is before and after pic to give you a sense of what things are going to look like with people added to the scenes. There are more pictures in the Photos section. Check them out!

I just wanted to let you know that I have reformatted the Videos section a bit by making the content a little more iPhone/Droid friendly. Youtube makes it easier to stream content to your mobile phone. Take a moment and check it out. Also we have posted a new webisode featuring Colin Webster. We really do appreciate all that he does; he is a greatly valued cast member. Thank you Colin!
October 23rd, 2010
Happy October to you all. Time to rally the troops. As I said before we would return to conflict, and all the bad stuff that goes with it. Thanks to everyone for coming out this weekend. You guys really do make the movie. We had new looks with new people. We were able to depict new species. It was refreshing to see new faces. As for our veterans, they continually help out and pitch in so all the cracks are filled & nothing is missed.
The scenes we did this weekend have been on my mind for more than a year now. I am grateful to see these scenes come to life. I am especially great for my nephew! He did just super. Here are a couple shots that, as usual are very close to how it will be post-produced. Again, awesome job everyone!
September 20th, 2010
Hi Everyone! So it has been a month since our last film session. Do you like the romantic & scenic movie stills below? I hope you got your fill, because you can kiss any more of that goodbye! Finally we get back to what is central to any Star Wars fan film: CONFLICT. We are back to mixing it up with lightsabers and Force powers. We had a rough start to our weekend; call it a comedy of errors. :) But we really turned it around. As we finish up the rest of this session in a couple weeks, we are looking ahead at more conflict in October & November. We we will return to the crappiness of the Ruusan battlefields & we will return to the studio in large numbers! Fighting, stunts (there may be a harness and a green man suit in there). So more ahead.
Here are a few screenshots from the weekend. We had ideal weather every day for continuity sake. We also rode 4x4 around some of the harsher areas. Thanks to the guys who have been filming throughout the spring and summer. They really worked hard. And now I know how truly difficult it is to fight in one of the Sith costumes without glasses! As usual I give you 1-2 shots that are very close to how it will be post-produced. Good news for the fans of this filming effort. Bad news for the farmers of Onderon. . . .
August 23rd, 2010
Hello All. :) So we finished our latest filming session Sunday August 22nd. It was very beautiful, and HOT outside. We hiked a lot to get to our locations. We also got to some via 4x4. The heat definitely made it challenging to accomplish what we wanted. In the end we got what we needed on film and everyone is mostly healthy. Thanks to everyone who participated. You guys really came through and didn't let the heat stop you. You are all very dedicated to seeing this thing and I appreciate your efforts tremendously!
Here are a couple screenshots from yesterday. Again, we capture the planet Onderon during happier times in the lives of 2 people. More pictures will be made available sometime next week as I am pressed for time. The 1st one is mostly how it will be edited post-production. Not much to do on these visually. Mother Nature provides her own beauty. Thanks!
August 18th, 2010
Hi Everyone! I just wanted to give a quick update: there are several stills of post-production footage now available on the Photos page. Check them out. :)
July 26th, 2010
Hey Everyone! I hope everyone is having a great summer. Our group is having a great summer as well. So far we have had 5 filming sessions since May. That is 3 more than we had all summer the 1st movie we did. Our filming session was great last weekend. It was probably one of the most leisurely sessions we ever will have. There were not that many lines, so many of the cast could improvise. There was some much needed humor in the scenes we filmed. Finding that humor wasn't hard. Our group had a serious case of the giggles. It was what I was hoping for: an easy film shoot so everyone could really relax and get to know each other better.
Here are a couple screen captures from the weekend. The 1st one is about what you can expect from this scene. It is what it is; mother nature gives us all the editing effect we need. More pictures can be found shortly in the Photos section. Stay tuned for further updates!
July 4th, 2010
Happy 4th of July! Check out our latest update in our Videos section. This time we focus on Lance Keck. Lance is a guy who sort of came to us out of the blue, answering a Craigslist ad. We are extremely fortunate he did because the character seems to be made for him. Thanks for all you do Lance!
June 27th., 2010
Hi guys! We have more updates in June. We finished another filming session last night. Conditions were unpredictable (again) with humidity and then rain. I found out that last night as we were filming this cool looking scene in the barn, that we were filming during a tornado warning & the severe weather was just on the other side of the barn wall. :) Sweet. Anyway as I said we filmed a very cool looking scene last night. We took some risks with several unknowns. But we worked them out. I think the authenticity of our setting really brought the best in Lance & Christian. They really enjoyed. They were very good. Thank you both for your hard work; you made this scene great!
After doing some sampling, I can honestly say that it looks extremely good, given the lighting risks we were taking. There are some unaltered pictures on the Photos page. Here are a couple samples from this scene that are very close to completely edited. Enjoy!
June 20th, 2010
Hello Everyone. I wanted to wish all fathers out there a Happy Father's Day! Here is something to watch as we continue filming through 2010. We have a great cast and I know that with everything we all have going on, we all will still find a little time to make a little movie magic. Check out the latest webisode on the Videos page!
June 16th, 2010
Hi Everyone. I wanted to provide you an update on where we are at. We are filming several of the scenes that take us back to a familiar place: Onderon, home planet of Darth Ansia. There are still a lot of challenges. One might think that since we got through a very successful April session that we should have it easy, but it is not. Still, it was great that the guys can play such a large part in making a creative vision become a reality.
We should be picking up again at the end of the month, so I will have more to write soon. We do have some screenshots and they can be found on the Photos page as always. Here is a sample production pic as well as how this footage will look in post-production. More to come real soon!
May 25th, 2010
Howdy Y'all! This past weekend (May 22nd-23rd) we hit the studio and got back to filming. This time of year is tricky. Weather is unpredictable & so are schedules sometimes. We had 2 very productive filming sessions overall. Though both days presented their own challenges, I have to say we captured the pre--visualization right on the money or at least very close. Thanks to all for attending. Several of us got treats during or after filming and we earned it. We even had a birthday. Happy Birthday Christian!!
We have a very aggressive June. We are filming the 2nd and 4th weekends of this month and hope to get at least 4 scenes done. I am confident we can dig deep and get those weekends done!
Here is a sample pic from this weekend as well as what the footage will closely resemble as a finished edit. There are more pictures on the Photos page for you to enjoy!
April 23rd, 2010
Hi Everyone! I present to the cast what they have been waiting on for the last 2 weeks: Video of yourselves! Check out Webisode 6 on the Videos page or the Recent Videos bar to the right. You all look great!
April 12th, 2010
To all, I wanted to express how thankful, and impressed with the job everyone did this past weekend. It was really great. From the little bit of footage I have seen to this point, everything looks great. It was an honor working with you all. There will be more opportunities in the future, so I will be calling! I will be updating photos as I start collecting more content so you can all see how great you look. Check back soon! Again, my most sincere thanks.
P.S. Here is a conceptual picture of what this scene might look like when finished. It kind of depends on the look we want to give it. Thanks again!
February 1st, 2010
Hello everyone. :) I would like to share that we completed our January film session. It was pretty cold, but we prepared the best we could. Lots of layers. Sometimes the cold made it hard to move, hard to think, hard to drive through. All in all we got some good shots. Our footage gives us a slightly different look how a certain snow planet that a certain Jedi returns to recover a certain item. I was asked "Why do we do so much winter filming?" The answer is: its looks cool, very few fan films do it, and the scenery is free. Thanks to Dave Dahlberg for making the trek from Duluth MN. It was great seeing you again on film Dave.
A couple items to note:
-As a reminder, we are on Facebook now. Check us out as some new details about upcoming events may be posted there. Become a fan, or give me a hard time on our wall. Star Wars 'FADE' Facebook Page
-This is our last major filming session until April. We will be focusing our time & energy on getting as large a turnout as possible for April 10th-11th.
-New pictures have been posted on our Photos page. Check them out!
-Check out our latest Webisode in our Videos section. We focus on Jeff Keehn. He has been such a major help for us in so many ways. Without him, producing this film would be so much more difficult. Thank you so much Jeff!!!!
-Finally, check this picture from the 30th. This is close to what we would see when completed.
January 27th, 2010
Hi! I wanted to send out a quick note. We are approaching our 3rd filming session this weekend in Cannon Falls (once again). Hopefully we can stay warm (again). And hopefully we will continue to get great shots!
We are on Facebook now. Its a much more interactive option to have or the project, Check us out to get more info on dates and stuff, or if you want to send a shout out. Here we are:
Here are a couple more post-production shots to check out!
January 10th, 2010
Happy New Year! Things are moving along steadily. As we look at 2010 we plan on filming a little here, producing a little there, as we prepare to make a serious push to April. In between, we intend to release a bit of content as we go. Please take a look at the Videos section for a new webisode on our efforts to bring you a higher quality experience. We look forward to sharing new content & new experiences at the end of January.
Also, take a look at this guy. Look familiar?
December 7th, 2009
We wrapped up our 2nd filming session for this movie. The session we focused on returns a certain character back to a certain frigid planet. The weather that day was appropriate. The studio, which is a converted barn, was frigid. There was nothing we really could do to get it warm, so we made the best of it. Hopefully the vapor from our breath will make it into some of the shots. Jesse looked great. Some of the intial tests performed with his soon to be virtual environment look really good and we can hopefully deliver one of many very cool scenes to you all!
Some photos from this session have been added to the Photos page. Also, a new Webisode has been published on the videos page. Check them out! And thanks again for visiting. Here is a shot of a familiar character from our 1st film. More information to come down the road!
November 16th, 2009
We wrapped up our 1st filming session for this movie; quite a lot to keep track of. We had people that were ready to step up and provide some really good moments. We also had a lot of new members that weren't sure what they were in for. Thanks to everyone! There are some really great shots from Saturday. Here are a few. Please check out more in the Photos section!
November 11th, 2009
Our cast (including some new recruits) will be gathering this Saturday, November 14th for our 1st filming session of this sequel. Everyone's looking forward to having a good time and getting this story started. Our studio is completed so we will have a rain or shine plan. Look for more updates from Saturday's session in the days ahead.
October 2nd, 2009
Our studio is progressing very well. Jesse has almost single-handedly built the studio from scratch. Pictures of our progress can be viewed on the Photos page. Check out all the glorious chroma key green!
September 8th, 2009
One of many upcoming webisodes, 'Starting Somewhere' has been posted on the Videos link above. It is the 1st in a series, documenting our process as we create our film. Please have a look-see. Thanks again for visiting!
Say elo' to my lil' sequel!
Our family & friends have encouraged us to deliver a sequel to our Star Wars Fan Film IMMOLATION that came out in January of this year. As the final version of the film was cut and we were finishing up with the premiere planning at the theater, Jesse Fox and I had this feeling that we had more story to do. We felt we had a chance to continue to let these characters grow within the Star Wars Expanded Universe. We also felt that we could produce a 2nd film living by the old cliche: bigger & better.
So that is what we intend to do.
This site will provide all updates for where we are with the process and also be a central location for our family & friends in Minnesota & Wisconsin who may be interested in joining our effort. We definitely need all the help we can get. There will be more to come for those who are interested.
That's all for now. Best wishes to all and lets make an awesome film!
Jesse & Dave
